What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient therapy which dates back over 5000 years. It is a complementary therapy which works on the principle that there are reflex areas on the feet and hands that correspond to all the organs, glands and parts of the body. By applying gentle pressure to these reflex areas, a deep state of relaxation may be achieved, increasing an overall improvement to your well being.
Reflexology is a wonderfully relaxing treatment and may help to relieve stress and other conditions such as back pain, headaches, fertility issues, sleep disorders, hormonal imbalances, muscular and joint pain and this list goes on. Healing through Reflexology is experienced very much on an individual basis and no two people may feel the same as your body will take from the treatment what is needed to help heal and find balance on both a physical and emotional level.
Reflexology can be enjoyed by all from a tender young age and I am happy to work with babies and children alongside and supporting parents, through the various stages of life to the elderly. As a reflexologist and Holistic Practitioner it is worth mentioning that I am unable to diagnose symptoms and Reflexology does not replace conventional medicine. It can provide additional support alongside this or on its own to help maintain homeostasis, the natural internal balance.
On your first treatment, a consultation will be carried out and additional time will be required for this, taking information such as your medical history, lifestyle and dietary habits. This will help me to understand your needs and treat you wholly, taking into account both physical and non physical factors which might be affecting your well being. You remain fully clothed, simply removing your shoes and socks or alternatively you may prefer Hand Reflexology or a mixture of both feet and hands.
